How to Use the Convex MCP in Windsurf
Let Cascade push data from your Convex backend straight into your codebase within Windsurf.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Convex MCP to Windsurf
Create your Vinkius account to connect Convex to Windsurf and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Run queries directly in Windsurf
Cascade pulls live data from your production environment using `run_query`. You don't need to leave the editor to check current database states. It handles the connection logic so Cascade can read your schema and fetch specific records. The agent sees the JSON output and updates your code immediately.
Trigger mutations via Windsurf
Execute `run_mutation` to update your backend records without switching contexts. Cascade handles the request payload based on your instructions. This keeps your application state and your editor in sync. You define the logic and the agent fires the mutation.
Execute actions through Windsurf
Use `run_action` to trigger heavy lifting or side effects on your Convex backend. Cascade manages the execution flow while you focus on the architecture. It treats these backend functions as standard tools. You can chain these calls to perform complex updates without manual intervention.
