How to Use the Credly MCP in Cline
Let Cline build reports and dashboards right in VS Code using live data from your Credly account.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Credly MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect Credly to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Build Dashboards with Live Badge Data
Tell Cline to build a new component that displays recent badge recipients. It will use the `list_issued_badges` tool to fetch the data, then write the React or Vue code to render it. Because Cline executes end-to-end, it doesn't just give you a code snippet. It creates the file, imports the necessary functions, calls the MCP tool, handles the response, and even writes a test. You just review the diff.
Automate Compliance Checks in Your IDE
You can have Cline perform routine checks on your Credly account. For instance, ask it to create a script that calls `list_authorized_issuers` and compares it against your company's active employee directory. Cline can also help you investigate specific badges. Give it a badge ID and ask it to get the full story. It'll use `get_badge_details` to pull the issuance date, criteria, and recipient, then format it for your report.
Explore Your Credly Account with the Cline MCP Server
Use Cline as an interactive way to explore your Credly setup. Ask it, 'list all our badge templates,' and it will run `list_badge_templates` and show you the results right in the chat. From there, you can drill down. Ask it to 'show me the members of our org' (`list_org_members`) or 'what skills are tied to our badges?' (`list_badge_skills`). It’s like having a command-line interface for Credly, but one that also writes code for you.
