Build federal data dashboards with Cline
The `search_datasets` tool scans the US government open data catalog for specific topics like climate or finance. You tell Cline to build a dashboard tracking federal education grants. It queries the catalog, finds the most popular datasets using the views_recent sort, and grabs the exact IDs. With those IDs, Cline executes `get_dataset` to pull the data dictionaries and resource links. It doesn't just show you the JSON response. Your agent downloads the CSVs, writes the React components to display the metrics, and generates the test files to ensure the data renders correctly.
Navigate federal agencies through this MCP Server
The `get_organization_datasets` tool pulls every public record published by a specific government department. Cline uses this to build targeted scrapers. If you want a tool that tracks Treasury data, your agent isolates that agency and pulls all related resource counts. Grouping these records is done with the `list_groups` tool. Cline maps out sectors like agriculture or health. It structures your application's database schema based on how the federal government already categorizes these 300,000 records.
Filter massive government catalogs instantly
The `get_tag_datasets` tool returns titles and download links for specific categories. Cline crosses this with `list_resource_formats` to find machine-readable files. It ignores the useless PDFs and targets clean JSON endpoints for your application. Finding the right schema happens automatically. Cline reads the metadata dates and license info. It writes the exact Python or TypeScript models needed to parse the federal data, stages the commit, and shows you the diff right in your VS Code sidebar.
