One Config for the Whole Team

This MCP Server connects to Copilot through a simple JSON file. By committing `.vscode/mcp.json` to your repository, every developer on the team gets the same set of Deno Deploy tools automatically. No more 'works on my machine' problems. New hires just clone the repo and they're ready to go. They can immediately use tools like `list_apps` and `get_app` to get familiar with the project's infrastructure, right from their editor.

Deploy and Debug from VS Code

Tell Copilot Chat to roll out a new version of an application. The agent uses the `create_deployment` tool to start the process on Deno Deploy. It's a faster, more direct way to ship than manually running scripts or using a web UI. If a deployment has issues, you can debug it on the spot. Ask the agent to run `get_build_logs` or `get_app_logs`. The output appears right in your chat panel, next to your code.

Manage Infrastructure with your MCP Server

This isn't just for deployments. You can manage your entire Deno Deploy setup. Use `create_app` to provision new services or `list_domains` to check your DNS configuration. It's all done through the Copilot agent. You can also manage shared secrets and environment variables across your applications. The `create_layer` and `update_layer` tools let your agent modify configurations programmatically, reducing manual errors.

Setup guide

Set up Deno Deploy MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Deno Deploy MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Deno Deploy tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Deno Deploy transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.

Common questions about Deno Deploy MCP in VS Code Copilot

Create a `.vscode/mcp.json` file in your project's root and add the Vinkius server configuration. Commit this file to git. Every team member using VS Code Copilot will automatically get the tools.
Yes. The Vinkius platform is SOC 2 compliant and designed for team environments. Authentication is handled via secure tokens, and all tool executions for this Deno Deploy server are isolated.
You can. Ask the agent to check on a specific revision. It will use the `get_revision` tool to get the current status and `get_revision_progress` to stream live updates if it's still building.
The agent uses the context of your conversation and open files. You can also be specific, like "create a new deployment for the 'api-production' app," and it will use the `create_deployment` tool with the correct parameters.
Only Deno Deploy account and application metadata is accessed. This includes app names, deployment IDs, and log entries. Your source code, local files, and credentials are never touched by the server.
