Shared Deta Base Access for Teams

Put a `.vscode/mcp.json` file in your project repo, and everyone on your team gets the same tools for your shared Deta Base. New hires can instantly query production data using `base_query_items` or fetch specific records with `base_get_item` without any setup. This makes collaboration much simpler. Your agent can use `base_insert_item` to add test data, `base_update_item` to fix a record, or `base_put_items` to batch-upload configuration. It’s a shared, scriptable interface to your team's data, available to Copilot.

Sync Project Files with Deta Drive

Use this MCP server to manage shared assets in Deta Drive. With Copilot in agent mode, you can use `drive_upload_file` to push shared resources or build outputs. Everyone on the team with VS Code gets access to the same file operations. It's also great for managing the drive itself. Ask your agent to get a file list with `drive_list_files`, pull down a specific configuration with `drive_download_file`, or remove outdated assets using `drive_delete_files`. This keeps your shared drive clean and in sync with your project.

An MCP Server for Your Dev Team

This isn't just another tool; it's shared infrastructure for your team's Copilot users. By committing the configuration, you ensure every developer has a consistent, secure way to interact with your Deta Space resources. It turns Copilot from a code assistant into a data-aware teammate. This MCP server standardizes how your team works with Deta. Instead of writing custom scripts, they can just ask Copilot's agent to perform actions like `base_get_item` or `drive_list_files`. It's faster, less error-prone, and fully integrated into the editor they already use.

Setup guide

Set up Deta Space (Serverless Personal Cloud API) MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

Add the Deta Space (Serverless Personal Cloud API) MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

Common questions about Deta Space (Serverless Personal Cloud API) MCP in VS Code Copilot

Create a `.vscode/mcp.json` file in your project's root directory and add the MCP server configuration there. Commit this file to your Git repository, and every developer who pulls the repo will automatically have the Deta Space tools available in Copilot.
Yes. Once configured, switch Copilot Chat to agent mode and ask it to use the `base_query_items` tool. Provide the search criteria as a JSON object, and it will fetch the matching items from your Deta Base.
Tell your agent to use the `base_update_item` tool. You'll need to provide the item's key and a JSON object with the fields you want to change. The agent will execute the update against your Deta Base.
Not directly with the VS Code Copilot integration, which is designed for interactive use in the editor. For CI/CD, you'd typically use a CLI-based MCP client and connect it to the same Vinkius server endpoint.
Access is controlled through the Vinkius MCP server. Your Deta API keys are stored securely by Vinkius, not in your source code. VS Code Copilot only communicates with the server, which enforces that only the defined tool operations for your JSON items and files can be performed.
