Connect eBird MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect eBird to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Build mapping features faster in Cursor
The `get_nearby_hotspots` tool feeds real latitude and longitude data straight into your editor. When you write a map component, Agent mode calls the API and populates your mockups with actual geographic coordinates. You stop hardcoding fake locations. The MCP Server hands Cursor the exact JSON structure the database returns in production, meaning you write parsing logic against real data from day one.
Seed databases with official taxonomy
The `get_taxonomy` and `get_taxonomic_groups` tools pull the current scientific classifications for global bird species. Your agent queries the endpoint and writes the exact SQL or Prisma schema needed to store the hierarchy. This eliminates transcription errors. Instead of copying and pasting from Wikipedia, you instruct the editor to fetch the official data and generate the corresponding TypeScript interfaces automatically.
Test logic with live observation feeds
The `get_recent_observations` and `get_recent_observations_by_species` tools return timestamped sighting events. If you are building a notification system for rare birds, you use these tools to trigger your code with actual field reports. You pair this with `get_checklist` to inspect the full metadata of a specific submission. The agent reads the raw checklist payload and helps you write the exact extraction functions required to display observer notes.
