Connect EIA Full Access — U.S. Energy Intelligence MCP to VS Code Copilot
Create your Vinkius account to connect EIA Full Access — U.S. Energy Intelligence to VS Code Copilot and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Distribute federal data via MCP Server
`get_total_energy` gives your entire engineering team access to the Monthly Energy Review metrics without distributing API keys. You commit the MCP configuration to your repository, and every developer instantly gets the ability to query petroleum, coal, and renewable statistics. No one wastes time reading API documentation. The integration standardizes how your team handles federal data. When a junior developer needs to check U.S. crude reserves, Copilot calls `get_crude_production` and formats the response. Everyone works from the same official numbers, eliminating mismatched data sources across different branches.
Analyze petroleum supply balances
`get_petroleum_summary` fetches the weekly supply and demand balance that dictates oil markets. Your AI client pulls production, imports, and commercial stocks directly into your editor. You can cross-check these numbers against `get_petroleum_consumption` to calculate sector-specific burn rates. Storage data completes the picture. The `get_petroleum_stocks` tool checks the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and commercial inventories. Copilot uses this data to help you write accurate historical backtesting scripts for commodity trading algorithms.
Monitor electric power generation
`get_power_generation` tracks electricity production by state, sector, and fuel source. You ask Copilot to compare natural gas versus coal generation in Texas, and it pulls the exact megawatt-hours from the federal database. The data informs the logic of the grid management software you are building. Granular facility data is just as accessible. The `get_plant_generation` tool isolates net generation and fuel consumption for individual power plants. You skip writing complex SQL queries and let the agent retrieve the exact facility records you need to test your application.
Set up EIA Full Access — U.S. Energy Intelligence MCP in VS Code Copilot
Prerequisites
- VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
