Autonomous Windsurf Pollution Tracking via MCP
Cascade doesn't wait for step-by-step instructions. You tell it to analyze local air quality, and it figures out the rest. It queries `get_available_products` to see what gases it tracks, then immediately pulls the numbers. That means you get a complete picture of an area without hand-holding. If you need a dashboard showing traffic pollution, Cascade runs `get_nitrogen_dioxide` and `get_carbon_monoxide` in one chain, formatting the output directly into your workspace.
Mapping Environmental Data
Raw numbers only tell half the story. When you need to visualize where pollution actually sits, your agent grabs spatial data using `get_geojson_emissions`. It feeds this directly into whatever mapping library you prefer. You ask for a map of industrial zones, and the agent plots the exact coordinates without you touching a single JSON parser.
Deep Audits for Specific Gases
Sometimes you just need to hunt down a specific leak or atmospheric anomaly. You point the tool at a region and tell it to check for greenhouse gases. It fires off `get_methane` to find industrial venting. If you are looking at smog levels instead, it pulls `get_ozone`. The MCP Server handles the actual API connections, letting you focus on what the data means instead of how to fetch it.
Set up Emissions API MCP in Windsurf
Prerequisites
- Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
- Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Open MCP configuration
Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open
~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json. - 2
Add the Emissions API MCP
Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the
mcpServersobject. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com. - 3
Refresh MCPs
Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.
- 4
Verify in Cascade
Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my Emissions API payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the Emissions API tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.
