The agent verifies the vehicle ID using `get_vehicle` before submitting any data, keeping your fleet records clean. Guardrails in the OpenAI Agents SDK validate these actions before they execute. You do not have to worry about an LLM hallucinating a vehicle ID or sending bad data to your Fleetio dashboard. Keep your mileage logs accurate without manual data entry. Your agent can watch incoming telemetry feeds and run `create_meter_entry` to update odometer readings via MCP in real time. If the mileage triggers a service window, the agent queries `list_service_reminders` to flag upcoming maintenance. This keeps your PM schedules accurate without relying on drivers to write down numbers on paper.

Set up Fleetio MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • openai-agents package (pip install openai-agents)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token

    Install the SDK

    Run pip install openai-agents to install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed.

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use MCPServerSse with your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Fleetio tools at runtime.

    Create your Agent

    Pass the MCP to Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Fleetio tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically.

    Run the agent

    Call Runner.run(agent, prompt) to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Fleetio tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.
