How to Use the GetStream MCP in Cline
Tell Cline to build a social feature with GetStream. It won't just explain how—it'll write the code.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect GetStream MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect GetStream to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Generate Feed Components Instantly
This server gives Cline direct access to your GetStream feeds. Stop looking up API docs. Just ask Cline to build what you need, like "Create a React component that shows the user's timeline." Cline will use the `get_feed` tool to fetch live data from GetStream, then write the actual component code, complete with state management and rendering logic. It sees the data structure and writes code that works with it on the first try.
Build and Test with a GetStream MCP Server
Cline doesn't just write code, it runs it. You can ask it to prototype a new social feature, like reactions. Cline can use `partial_update_activity` to add a 'like' count and then write a unit test to confirm the update worked. Because Cline can both read from and write to GetStream, it can handle end-to-end tasks. Tell it to implement a block feature, and it can write the code that calls `unfollow_feed` and then stage the changes for your review. It closes the loop between idea and commit.
Script Batch Operations in Your IDE
Use Cline to write scripts for complex GetStream operations. If you need to migrate users or backfill a new feature, just describe the task. For example, "Write a script to add all activities from the past week to a 'trending' collection." Cline will generate the code using tools like `get_activities` and `batch_post_collections`. This is perfect for one-off data jobs you don't want to do by hand. It's faster than writing the script yourself and safer than running queries in production.
