Team-Wide Indexing Diagnostics in VS Code Copilot
The `inspect_url` tool troubleshoots indexing failures directly inside VS Code Copilot. By committing the configuration to your repo, every developer instantly checks why a production URL is missing from search results. This eliminates the need for developers to request access to the Google Search Console admin panel. VS Code Copilot displays the exact crawl error, so the engineer fixes the bug and verifies the solution in the same workspace.
Manage Sitemaps via VS Code Copilot MCP Server
The `submit_sitemap` tool enables programmatic sitemap submissions directly from your VS Code Copilot terminal interface. During a deployment, your agent runs this tool to ensure Google instantly crawls your updated URL pathways. This automates a critical Google Search Console step in your VS Code Copilot release checklist. If a deployment changes your site structure, your VS Code Copilot agent uses `delete_sitemap` and `submit_sitemap` to keep Google's index perfectly aligned with your codebase.
Query Search Metrics Directly in Your Editor
The `query_search_analytics` tool pulls real-time search traffic and impression data into VS Code Copilot. Bottom line: developers query performance metrics to see how code changes or speed optimizations impact organic clicks over time. This builds a data-driven development loop between your codebase and Google Search Console. VS Code Copilot retrieves the raw search metrics, allowing you to prioritize refactoring tasks based on which pages drive the most Google Search Console traffic.
