Run Google ADK enterprise queries across large Grid worksheets

The Grid MCP Server feeds operational sheet data straight into Gemini's million-token context window. By calling `list_worksheet_records` through the Google ADK, your enterprise agent can digest thousands of rows of operational data in a single turn. This massive context handling means you do not need complex pre-filtering logic. The Google ADK passes raw sheet outputs directly to the model, allowing it to spot deep trends across your entire operational dataset.

Filter specific operational tools to control agent access

Restricting your Gemini agent to read-only actions is straightforward with the Google ADK tool filtering. You can expose tools like `list_grid_worksheets` and `get_worksheet_details` while completely blocking write actions. This configuration prevents the model from accidentally running destructive operations like `remove_worksheet_record`. You maintain strict control over which Google Cloud workloads can modify your production sheets via this MCP integration.

Merge BigQuery datasets with live Grid dashboards

Combining cloud data with active sheets is simple when your agent uses the Google ADK. The agent can pull historical metrics from BigQuery and write real-time updates back to your dashboard using `update_worksheet_record`. This bridge connects your static data warehouse to active, visual operational dashboards. Your teams get immediate visibility into cloud analytics through the visual interfaces managed by your Grid tools.

Setup guide

Set up Grid MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Grid tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Grid_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Grid tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Grid MCP in Google ADK

Install `google-adk` and define an `McpToolset` pointing to your Vinkius HTTP URL. Pass this toolset into your `LlmAgent` configuration to give Gemini instant access to your spreadsheets.
Yes, your agent can call `list_configured_webhooks` to inspect active triggers. It can then analyze these webhooks alongside your Google Cloud event architecture to keep systems in sync.
Yes, the Google ADK connects to Grid using either transport protocol. For cloud-hosted environments like Cloud Run, the HTTP transport is the recommended way to maintain stable MCP Server connections.
The model parses the JSON list of asset categories directly. Because of Gemini's large context window, it can cross-reference these asset types with your internal Google Cloud resource tags instantly.
Your spreadsheet rows and webhook configs are transmitted over encrypted TLS directly to your private Google Cloud VPC. The Google ADK does not store your records, keeping your operational data isolated within your corporate security perimeter.
