Ingest OTLP traces directly inside Cline
The `ingest_otlp_traces` tool routes OpenTelemetry spans directly to Highlight, enabling Cline to inspect backend latency alongside front-end user sessions. When you ask Cline to optimize a slow API endpoint, it invokes this tool to fetch the trace data and identify the bottleneck. The agent reads the span durations, writes a performance patch in VS Code, and runs your local tests to verify the fix. You get an automated optimization loop that relies on real-world trace data instead of guesswork.
Correlate structured logs using the MCP Server
The `ingest_otlp_logs` tool takes structured JSON logs containing your `highlight.project_id` and registers them with Highlight to connect backend state with user sessions. Cline calls this tool to upload diagnostic data during complex integration tests. This connection lets Cline verify that your backend logging matches frontend user actions. The agent analyzes the structured payload, confirms the project ID, and flags any missing metadata before you commit.
Forward raw debug outputs
The `ingest_raw_log` tool accepts unstructured error strings and converts them into standardized log envelopes for Highlight. Cline uses this tool to dump raw test suite failures directly into your observability dashboard for visual correlation. Instead of keeping errors trapped in your VS Code terminal, this tool exposes them to your session replay timeline. Cline tracks the raw output, connects it to the user session, and modifies the codebase to resolve the underlying issue.
