Shared Hostelworld MCP Server for teams

Commit a `.vscode/mcp.json` file to your repo so every dev has the same tools. You can use `search_properties` to build consistent travel features across the board. It ensures everyone is working with the same data structures. No more individual setup headaches.

Access property reviews in VS Code Copilot

Call `get_property_reviews` to pull feedback data into your editor. You can use this to train your own sentiment analysis models or display social proof in your app. It gives your team direct access to real user feedback. You get the raw text and ratings instantly.

Search global destinations via VS Code Copilot

Use `list_countries` and `search_cities` to query the entire Hostelworld catalog. You can build internal dashboards that track availability across different regions. The tools respond with clean JSON. It is easy to integrate into your existing codebase.

Setup guide

Set up Hostelworld MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Hostelworld MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Hostelworld tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Hostelworld transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.
