How to Use the JSONPlaceholder MCP in Cline
Tell Cline to build a feature in VS Code. It will write the code, test it with live JSONPlaceholder data, and stage the commit.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect JSONPlaceholder MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect JSONPlaceholder to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Build Components with Live Data
Ask Cline to 'build a user profile component for user 1.' It won't just give you boilerplate. It will call the `get_user`, `get_user_posts`, and `get_user_todos` tools to fetch real mock data from JSONPlaceholder. Then, it writes the component file—React, Vue, whatever you're using—and wires it up with the data it just fetched. You get a working component, not a skeleton.
Write and Run Tests with Cline
You can tell Cline to 'write an integration test for creating and deleting a post.' It will generate a test file that uses the `create_post` tool to set up the test state. After setup, the test code will use `get_post` to assert the post was created correctly, and then `delete_post` in a teardown block. Cline can then run the test and show you the results, all inside VS Code.
Scaffold Code from API Schemas
This MCP server exposes the full JSONPlaceholder API. When you need to build a UI for one of its resources, just point Cline at it. For instance, 'scaffold a comments list component.' Cline will use the `list_comments` tool to understand the data structure of a comment object. It then generates the props interface and component code to match, saving you the time you'd normally spend looking up API docs.
