Real-time quotes in Cursor

Stop using placeholders in your UI tests. Use `get_random_quote_text` to inject live strings into your project code. Your agent fetches the text and drops it right where your cursor is blinking. It’s the fastest way to test how your layout handles dynamic content.

JSON object injection for Cursor

Need to populate a database or state store with actual data? Use `get_random_quote_json` to grab the full object. Cursor handles the response as a native object. You can map these fields into your codebase during the generation phase.

Project-level configuration in Cursor

Define your server in the .cursor/mcp.json file. This keeps your tools scoped to the project you're currently building. Every time you open this specific codebase, your agent has the quote tools ready to go. No global mess, just clean project-specific setup.

Set up Kanye.Rest MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the Kanye.Rest MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent Kanye.Rest transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the Kanye.Rest tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about Kanye.Rest MCP in Cursor

Create a .cursor/mcp.json file in your project root. Define the server path there, and the AI agent will register the tools automatically.
Yes. Enable Agent mode in the chat interface to let the editor call the tools during your coding session.
It does. Cursor treats MCP tools as first-class citizens, allowing the AI to call them mid-stream to solve your coding tasks.
The AI agent only injects the text you ask for. It touches nothing else in your files.
The server only transmits public quote strings. It never accesses your private source code or environment variables.
