Connect Kong Gateway MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect Kong Gateway to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Build and Expose an Endpoint
This isn't just about API calls; it's about building. Tell Cline, "Create a new Python service for user profiles and expose it on Kong." Cline will generate the boilerplate code for the service first, right in your workspace. After the code is written, Cline uses this MCP server to make it live. It runs `create_service` and `create_route` for you, then confirms the endpoint is active. You go from a prompt to a deployed API without switching contexts.
Generate Client Libraries from Live Routes
Point Cline at your gateway. Ask it to, "Generate a TypeScript client for all services tagged 'public'." It uses `list_services` and `list_routes` to discover your API's surface area automatically. From there, it actually writes the client code. You get typed functions for your frontend that are guaranteed to match the backend routes, because Cline used the live gateway configuration as its source of truth.
Manage Consumers with Your Cline Agent
Onboarding a new API partner is tedious. With Cline, you just say, "Onboard 'Partner-X' with an API key." The agent runs `create_consumer` and can chain that with other tools to generate the key and associate it correctly. Cline doesn't just run the command and stop. It can then take the API key, save it to a secure file, or even draft an email with the new credentials. It handles the entire workflow.
