Team-Wide MCP Tools in VS Code
Add this MCP server to your project's `.vscode/mcp.json` file and commit it. That's it. Now, every developer on your team has access to the exact same `detect_language` tool inside Copilot. No more "it works on my machine" issues with language processing. This enforces a standard. When your agent needs to identify a language, it uses the approved, deterministic tool. It's a simple way to reduce bugs and ensure everyone's code handles multilingual text the same way.
A Smarter Copilot Agent
Your Copilot agent is already powerful. This tool makes it more precise. Instead of asking the LLM to guess a language from a log file or user comment, your agent can call `detect_language` for a fast, accurate answer. This is perfect for writing scripts and utilities. Tell your agent, "Write a script that scans the `logs` directory, detects the language of each file, and moves it to a corresponding folder." The agent has the MCP tool to do it.
Reduce Errors, Ship Faster
Incorrect language detection by an LLM can lead to subtle, expensive bugs. A message routed to the wrong support queue, a user seeing the wrong content. This MCP server gives Copilot a tool based on n-gram analysis, which is built for this specific task. By giving your agent a reliable tool, you cut down on a whole class of errors. The agent can build more robust code because it's working with predictable outputs, not probabilistic guesses.
