Enterprise baseball analytics with Google ADK

The `get_stats` tool exposes historical and active player metrics directly to Gemini's million-token context window. Your agent processes decades of team performance records alongside current game metrics to find hidden roster trends. You register the toolset using McpToolset and feed the baseball data straight into your LlmAgent. This allows your agent to compare live performances with historical datasets stored in BigQuery without hitting context limits.

Live game tracking via the MLB Stats MCP Server

The `get_live_game_feed` tool provides a continuous stream of play-by-play events that your Google ADK agent parses in real time. It monitors active games, flags pitching changes, and updates win-probability models during the middle of an inning. By using this MCP Server, your enterprise agent bypasses complex API integrations. The server handles the connection details, letting your Gemini model focus on analyzing game states and predicting late-game bullpen collapses.

Venue and roster context mapping

Your agent queries `list_venues` and `list_teams` to map out stadium dimensions and team travel schedules. It uses this geographic and physical context to adjust baseline player projections before game time. You can restrict which tools are exposed by passing a tool_names filter to your toolset configuration. This prevents your Gemini agent from wasting execution cycles on unused division queries, keeping its focus on raw player stats.

Setup guide

Set up MLB Stats MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with MLB Stats tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="MLB Stats_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to MLB Stats tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about MLB Stats MCP in Google ADK

Install the ADK library and define your McpToolset using the Streamable HTTP parameters pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Pass this toolset into your LlmAgent constructor to expose the baseball endpoints.
Yes. Your agent can pull historical team schedules using `get_schedule` and join that data with your internal proprietary databases in BigQuery to build custom predictive models.
The Google ADK passes raw outputs from MCP tools like `get_stats` or `get_standings` directly into Gemini's context window. The model easily holds entire seasons of player cards and game logs without throwing out-of-memory errors.
Use the filtering parameters in `list_teams` or `list_leagues` directly within your prompt or agent code. This keeps the returned payload light and fast, avoiding unnecessary tokens in your Gemini prompt.
Absolutely. All traffic containing player profiles, live boxscores, and game schedules is routed through zero-trust, ephemeral network tunnels. Vinkius never intercepts or retains your baseball data payloads, maintaining strict enterprise isolation.
