Command-line holiday audits via MCP Server

Keep your deployment pipelines safe from silent failures on bank holidays. Claude Code runs in your terminal, querying `is_holiday_today` to verify if target deployment regions are active before triggering production rollouts. You can easily pipe the output of this MCP Server into your bash scripts or GitHub Actions. If a holiday is detected, your terminal agent can pause the workflow or alert the on-call engineer via Slack, preventing unattended deployments.

Global team availability checks from the shell

Stop searching online calendars before planning maintenance windows. Run a quick terminal command and let Claude Code call `get_next_holidays_worldwide` to check which global teams are offline this week. Your terminal agent reads the output, filters it by your active server regions using `get_country_details`, and outputs a clean Markdown table directly to your terminal. It's fast, keyboard-driven, and keeps you out of the browser.

Bulk calendar generation via terminal scripts

Generate custom operational calendars without writing complex parser scripts. Claude Code queries `get_public_holidays` for multiple countries and years, formatting the JSON payload directly into your terminal stdout. You can command your agent to cross-reference this data with `list_available_countries`, generating localized database seeds or configuration files for your backend services in seconds.

Common questions about Nager.Date MCP in Claude Code

Run `claude mcp add --transport http nagerdate -- ` in your terminal. Make sure all flags go before the server name. Use `claude mcp list` to verify the installation.
Yes. Claude Code is designed for terminal environments. You can run the CLI agent inside GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, allowing your MCP client to call `is_holiday_today` dynamically during your build steps.
The CLI agent handles API rate limits by reading the tool error responses. If a rate limit is hit, you can instruct it to back off, retry, or fall back to cached holiday data from a previous run.
Absolutely. You can ask Claude Code to output the result of `get_public_holidays` as raw JSON, which you can then pipe into utilities like `jq` or redirect straight into a configuration file.
No. The integration only processes country codes and calendar years. All tool executions are isolated within Vinkius's secure, zero-trust V8 sandbox, ensuring your terminal environment and local files remain completely private.
