Connect National Archives Catalog MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect National Archives Catalog to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Direct record exploration in Cline
Cline interacts with the archive to pull raw data for your projects. Trigger `search_records` to get a list of relevant results for your specific topic. After getting a list, use `get_record_stats` to see how active the record is. Cline handles the data formatting so you can start working immediately.
Submit transcriptions and comments
Help improve the archive by submitting your own work via `create_transcription`. Cline can read text files in your project and push them to the NARA database. Use `create_comment` to leave notes on records that need attention. This makes it easy to annotate documents while you are building or researching.
Audit historical record changes
If you need to see who modified a record, use `get_transcription_history`. Cline gives you a clear view of the changes over time. You can also use `get_contributions_by_userid` to track your own progress. It ensures you have a reliable log of every action taken through the MCP server.
