Build apps with live park data

Stop using mock data for your travel projects. Use `list_parks` to pull real park codes and names directly into your codebase. Cursor lets you write code that actually talks to the NPS backend, ensuring your logic handles real-world data structures.

Automate event and article tracking

Use `list_events` and `list_articles` to feed your application with official government content. Your agent can now write documentation or display real event calendars without you ever leaving the editor.

Manage park infrastructure records

Query `list_places` to get detailed site information for your mapping or database projects. This MCP Server gives your code immediate access to the same records used by park rangers.

Common questions about National Park Service MCP in Cursor

Create an mcp.json file in your project root or global config directory. Define the server path there, and the tools will show up in your Agent mode.
No. You provide your credentials via the server configuration, and they stay within the secure environment of your editor.
Absolutely. Since the server provides real responses, you can have your agent generate tests based on actual API outputs from `list_campgrounds`.
It passes requests through to the agency. If you hit their limits, you will see a response code indicating you need to slow down your queries.
Cursor does not log the raw data returned by these tools. The information flows directly from the agency to your editor session.
