Cline executes symbolic math

Cline calls `math_derive` and `math_factor` to manipulate equations as part of your coding tasks. Instead of writing math manually, you tell the agent what to solve and it handles the symbolic heavy lifting. It performs the math and writes the correct output directly into your files. The agent ensures the logic is sound before it stages the final diff.

Precise integration for Cline

Use `math_integrate` or `math_area` when your code requires exact analytical results. Cline reads the function and executes the tool to generate the precise integral for your backend logic. This removes the need for external calculators or unreliable approximations. You get the exact symbolic form injected exactly where you need it.

Solve equations with Cline

Cline uses `math_zeroes` to find roots for your input functions. It takes your code parameters, runs them through the server, and returns the solution set for your testing suite. This speeds up the development of algorithmic components. You verify the math without leaving the IDE environment.

Setup guide

Set up Newton MCP in Cline

Prerequisites

  • VS Code with Cline extension installed
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open Cline MCP settings

Click the Cline icon in the VS Code sidebar to open the Cline panel. Then click the MCP Servers icon (server stack) at the top-right corner of the panel.

  2. 2

    Add a remote server

Click "Remote Servers" at the top, then click "Add Remote MCP". In the Name field, type newton-mcp. In the URL field, paste your Vinkius endpoint: https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp. Get your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable the server

After saving, the server appears in the Cline MCP panel. Toggle the switch to enable it. The status indicator turns green when the connection is live.

  4. 4

    Start using tools

Return to the Cline chat and ask: "Check my latest Newton refund status." Cline will discover the available tools and request your approval before invoking each one — giving you full control over every action.

Common questions about Newton MCP in Cline

Use the Remote Servers tab in your Cline sidebar to add the server URL. Alternatively, edit the configuration file directly to include the server details and start executing math.
Cline intelligently decides when to use these tools for symbolic operations. If a task requires derivation or factorization, it pulls the server to get the job done.
It provides a full suite of 15 tools to handle everything from basic trigonometry to complex symbolic simplification. Cline uses these to ensure your code logic remains accurate.
Provide the x-value and the function to `math_tangent`. Cline handles the request and displays the linear approximation result for your implementation.
The server treats your mathematical expressions as ephemeral data. It processes the input and returns the result without logging your sensitive formulas or project-specific variables.
