Pipe live tunnel outputs directly into terminal scripts

The `list_endpoints` tool outputs your live public tunnel addresses directly to Claude Code over MCP. You can tell the CLI to fetch this list and pipe the active URLs into other command-line utilities. This allows you to automate local webhook testing without leaving the terminal. Claude Code grabs the active endpoint, runs your local test runner, and filters the output based on the live traffic.

Inspect security rules inside your CLI workflows

The `list_ip_policies` tool lets Claude Code audit your network access rules directly via the MCP Server. SREs and DevOps engineers can use this tool to verify that local tunnels comply with corporate security standards. The CLI agent checks both `list_ip_restrictions` and active policies to ensure no unauthorized traffic can reach your local machine. This keeps your terminal-based testing secure without requiring a web browser interface.

Manage domains and keys using the ngrok MCP Server

The `list_reserved_domains` tool allows Claude Code to fetch your static domains during automated build scripts. Your CLI agent queries this list to ensure your deployment scripts target the correct production or staging hosts. It also uses `list_api_keys` to verify which credentials are active before initiating new tunnel sessions. This prevents script failures caused by expired or invalid API keys.

Setup guide

Set up ngrok MCP in Claude Code

Prerequisites

  • Claude Code CLI installed (npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Run the add command

Open your terminal and run the command shown on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com. Use --scope user to make it available across all projects.

  2. 2

    Verify the connection

Start a Claude Code session and type /mcp to list connected servers. You should see ngrok-mcp with a green status indicator.

  3. 3

    Start using tools

Ask Claude Code something like "Check my latest ngrok transactions." It will automatically discover and invoke the available ngrok tools.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http ngrok-mcp https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp

Common questions about ngrok MCP in Claude Code

You can ask Claude Code to run `list_endpoints` and output the raw JSON via MCP. The CLI agent then pipes that address directly into curl, grep, or your custom shell scripts.
No, the server only supports read-only operations. Claude Code can run `list_ip_policies` to inspect your rules, but it cannot modify them from the command line.
The CLI agent uses the secure transport layer managed by Vinkius. You configure your token once, and Claude Code queries `list_api_keys` and other endpoints without needing raw credentials stored in your shell history.
Claude Code detects the connection drop and displays a standard exit code. You can quickly verify the status by running the list command in your terminal.
Your list of reserved domains, API keys, and active tunnels is transmitted over encrypted SSH/HTTP tunnels. Vinkius processes these MCP requests in an isolated, zero-trust sandbox, ensuring no configuration data is cached or stored.
