Coordinate multi-agent Notion editing

This MCP Server exposes 14 tools including `append_block_children` and `update_page_title` to your AutoGen agent group. One agent drafts content while another reviews and updates the page. They use `get_blocks` to read the current page state, debate the required changes in their conversation thread, and then execute the update. This prevents single-agent errors when modifying shared workspaces.

Automate database curation via consensus

Your AutoGen group uses `query_database` and `update_page_properties` to clean up messy tables. A validator agent flags incorrect properties, and a writer agent applies the fix. Before running `archive_page` or `delete_block`, the agents must reach a consensus. This MCP Server verification step ensures no critical project pages are deleted accidentally.

Discover workspace assets with AutoGen

Using this MCP Server, agents run `search_databases` and `search_pages` to locate specific files across your workspace. They share these UUIDs in their group chat to coordinate complex research tasks. When an agent needs to build a new database, it runs `create_database` after confirming the structure with the group. The entire process is recorded in the AutoGen conversation log.

Setup guide

Set up Notion MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Notion tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Notion_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Notion data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Notion MCP in AutoGen

Install `autogen-ext[mcp]` and use `mcp_server_tools` with your Vinkius HTTP URL. Pass the resulting tool list to your `AssistantAgent` constructor to give them access to `query_database` and `get_blocks`.
Yes, agents can call `delete_block`, but you should configure a human-in-the-loop fallback or an auditor agent. This ensures the destructive action is debated before execution.
The agents use `get_database` to retrieve the property schema. They analyze the column types in their chat to ensure any `create_page` call matches the database requirements.
Yes, the `McpToolAdapter` in AutoGen handles the schema conversion for both stdio and Streamable HTTP transports. You get clean tool integration without manual schema mapping.
Your Notion API token is stored securely in Vinkius and never exposed to the AutoGen agents. The agents only interact with the tool schemas, keeping your authentication keys completely hidden.
