Key Capabilities

Scripting Order Creation and Tracking.

Need to onboard a batch of new orders? Use `create_order` in your shell script. Pipe the output into a log file for auditing purposes. You can then use `get_tracking_progress` later in the same script to poll status updates. This is perfect for automated testing or nightly data syncs. The entire workflow runs headless, generating structured JSON output you can feed into another service.

Managing Order Lifecycle via CLI.

Write a job that cleans up old records. Call `list_active_orders` to identify targets, then loop through the IDs and run `delete_order`. This is great for batch cancellation scripts. Alternatively, you can use `get_carrier_order` to pull data from an external system and compare it against your internal state using `get_order`.

Automated Driver Assignment Checks.

Set up a cron job that runs periodically. This script calls `list_drivers` to check capacity, then uses `assign_driver` to automatically dispatch jobs when resources allow. You can log the success or failure of every assignment. This mechanism keeps your system running without human input, making sure drivers are always assigned efficiently.

Common questions about Shipday MCP in Claude Code

Just run the command `get_tracking_progress `. The output is pure JSON, which your shell script can immediately parse and pass to subsequent commands.
Yes. You simply execute `create_order` from the terminal, providing all necessary parameters like customer details and restaurant info. It's ideal for CI/CD pipelines.
The script can call `update_order_status` directly, changing the record state in bulk. The resulting change is immediately visible and logged by the CLI client.
You start by running `list_active_orders`. This gives you a master list of IDs. You can then pipe those IDs into another script that runs `get_order` on each one.
No, but the CLI client is perfect for it. You wrap the `get_tracking_progress` call in a loop that runs every minute, ensuring continuous monitoring and logging.
