Key Capabilities

Team Order Visibility

The `list_active_orders` tool lets every developer on the team instantly know what deliveries are currently running. This knowledge is committed to your repo config. You can then use `get_order` to pull up specific details for any job ID, making onboarding new devs simple.

Full Dispatch Cycle Management

The team needs to process a shipment? Start by calling `create_order`, which handles the initial payload. The agent then uses `assign_driver` to finalize the job assignment in one sequence. You can also use `update_order_status` across the board when simulating changes or testing status flows.

Tracking and Retrieval

Need to check where a package is? The dedicated tool, `get_tracking_progress`, gives real-time location data. It's perfect for QA teams running end-to-end tests. If the shipment was handled by a third party, `get_carrier_order` pulls that specific carrier info.

Setup guide

Set up Shipday MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Shipday MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Shipday tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Shipday transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.

Common questions about Shipday MCP in VS Code Copilot

The team commits the configuration to `.vscode/mcp.json`. This ensures every developer pulls down and uses the exact same set of tools, guaranteeing consistency.
Yes. The agent can execute `get_tracking_progress` commands directly within your chat panel and pipe the results into your running tests or documentation.
It absolutely does. By standardizing access via a shared `.vscode/mcp.json`, everyone uses the same tools, like `list_drivers` and `get_order`, preventing operational drift.
It is. The configuration method supports team-wide rollout via committed files, which fits SOC 2 compliant, IT-managed workflows perfectly.
The server handles sensitive logistics information: customer contact details from `create_order`, order locations, and driver assignments.
