Key Capabilities

Managing message sending for the entire team

`send_texter_message` allows every developer on your team to trigger an SMS drip campaign from within their standard IDE setup. The MCP Server handles authentication, so it's consistent across all project members. You can also use `list_texter_messages` to review the full message history before confirming a send.

Tracking and organizing conversations via Copilot Chat

The team configures chat organization using tools like `add_label_to_texter_chat`. This means every new hire or developer automatically has access to the same labeling standards. You can list all chats with `list_texter_chats` and then pull specific details for review using `get_texter_chat_details`.

Listing system information across projects

The team needs to know what departments exist? Use `list_texter_departments`. Need to see available chat channels? Run `list_texter_channels`. These tools provide foundational data for any communication script. `list_texter_labels` helps standardize how teams categorize chats across the board.

Setup guide

Set up Texter MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Texter MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Texter tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Texter transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.
