Automate Alert Checks

Integrate mandatory weather checks into your deployment pipeline. You can execute `list_alerts` as a pre-flight step in an SSH session, ensuring that no critical service goes live during active severe weather warnings. The output is designed to be piped directly into shell scripts for failure detection—if alerts are found, the job fails.

Fetch Raw Time Series Data

Need a raw data stream of historical measurements? Use `get_recent_history_weather` in a cron job. The MCP Server outputs structured JSON that your script can immediately consume, logging every temperature reading for the last 24 hours. This is perfect for backend services that track performance metrics against environmental factors.

Check Forecasts Headlessly

Before a scheduled rollout, check future conditions using `get_forecast_weather`. This allows your CI/CD pipeline to validate if the service needs to adjust its deployment window based on predicted weather. You can script this call and capture both daily and hourly forecasts for programmatic review.

Common questions about Tomorrow.io Plus MCP in Claude Code

You run a single command, like `claude weather-check`, which executes the necessary tools via the MCP Server. The output is pure text/JSON that you can pipe to other CLI tools or logging services.
Yes. You can script a validation step that runs `list_alerts` and checks the output status code. If any alerts are active, your pipeline exits immediately, stopping deployment.
It does. For services dealing with large boundaries, you can use `post_timelines` to get weather data for specific GeoJSON geometries directly in your script's output stream.
The server exposes raw measurements like temperature and precipitation intensity through `get_timelines`, alongside structured metadata from event lists (`list_events`) or insight categories.
You use the `list_locations` tool to query existing locations, or if your script requires a new area type, you can define it and pass it to the appropriate data retrieval function.
