Debating Account Risks

You set up two agents: one calls `list_account_risks` while another checks `list_user_risks`. They then debate the severity of the findings. The AutoGen framework forces them to argue over which risk is most critical, moving beyond a simple report to a consensus decision on the next remediation step.

Negotiating Vendor Compliance

One agent pulls all vendors using `list_vendors`, while another calls `list_vendor_risks` for each one. They then negotiate whether the overall vendor portfolio is compliant. This deliberation process ensures that critical gaps—like missing domain monitoring via `list_monitored_domains`—are flagged through debate, not just listed.

Multi-Agent Asset Discovery

Agents can divide labor: one checks IPs using `list_monitored_ips`, and another reviews SaaS apps via `list_saas_apps`. They then discuss overlap or missing coverage. This collaboration allows the AutoGen system to build a complete, consensus-driven map of your entire digital attack surface.

Setup guide

Set up UpGuard MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes UpGuard tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="UpGuard_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent UpGuard data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about UpGuard MCP in AutoGen

UpGuard provides structured tools that serve as the input for agent debate. For instance, an 'Audit Agent' can call `list_identity_breaches`, and a 'Risk Agent' must respond based on that data.
Yes. The `list_user_risks` tool gives you the necessary inputs for agent conversation. Agents can then debate the severity and urgency of different users' risks against each other.
The `list_monitored_domains` tool feeds data into your agents, allowing them to argue about potential security gaps. The conversation converges on the optimal list of domains that need attention.
Yes. You can pass all tools related to vendors—like `list_vendor_risks` and `get_vendor`—to the AssistantAgent, allowing multiple agents to debate the best course of action.
This MCP Server touches sensitive user risk data from `list_user_risks`. The AutoGen framework uses this raw input as evidence during the agent debate to reach a final, agreed-upon security recommendation.
