Automating Media Asset Retrieval

Give your crew the ability to inspect assets using `get_file_details`. One agent can pull technical metadata, while another uses that data to decide if a copy is needed. It's all part of one autonomous operation. To get an overview, use `list_files` which provides paginated access to every file in your project.

Structured Media Organization via MCP Server

If the team needs to know how assets are grouped, they run `list_file_groups`. This shows all immutable collections. Then, they can use `get_group_details` to inspect what's inside a specific group. This lets your crew build complex responses based on organized data, not just random files.

Project Auditing and Status Checks

For monitoring purposes, an agent can use `get_project_info` to pull project-level metadata and usage statistics. This is great for reporting. Want to know about file groups? `list_file_groups` gives the initial roster of collections your crew needs to examine.

Setup guide

Set up Uploadcare MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke Uploadcare tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="Uploadcare Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze Uploadcare data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct Uploadcare access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent Uploadcare transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about Uploadcare MCP in CrewAI

Agents call `get_file_details`. This tool pulls technical metadata for any file, allowing the team to verify formats or sizes before taking action. The data is instantly available for analysis.
Yes, use `list_files`. This tool supports pagination, meaning your autonomous operation can pull a complete manifest of every file without hitting limits. The data streams to the crew's shared memory.
You have `delete_file` for single, irreversible removal, or `batch_delete_files` for wiping out groups of files at once. The choice depends on how many assets the crew needs to manage.
The server manages project usage statistics, file metadata, and group details. It gives your autonomous operations full visibility into the state of your media infrastructure.
You can use `batch_store_files` or `store_file`. This marks assets as permanently stored, ensuring that even if they were originally temporary, they are now available for the crew to work with.
