How to Use the Upzelo MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK
Cut Churn with Upzelo using your OpenAI Agents SDK.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Upzelo MCP to OpenAI Agents SDK
Create your Vinkius account to connect Upzelo to OpenAI Agents SDK and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Manage Customer Data via MCP Server
You can check a customer's details for a specific user using the `get_customer` tool. This lets your agent pull key account information whenever a conversation requires it. Want to target groups? Use `list_customers` to grab all records, or run `save_customer` to segment and update fields for better targeting.
Control Retention Flows with Upzelo
The MCP Server lets you manage automated retention efforts. You initiate a flow session using `start_flow`, which kicks off the personalized win-back process. Need to track progress? Check the status of any running sequence with `get_flow_session`. The agent also has access to `list_flows` for viewing all available templates.
Handle Subscriptions and Accounts
Your agents can get full details on a customer's current plan using `get_subscription`. This is essential before running any retention campaign. If the customer needs an update, you can use `update_subscription` to adjust attributes directly. The `list_subscriptions` tool provides a quick overview of all active plans.

Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
openai-agentspackage (pip install openai-agents) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install the SDK
Run
pip install openai-agentsto install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed. - 2

Use
MCPServerSsewith your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Upzelo tools at runtime. - 3
Create your Agent
Pass the MCP to
Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Upzelo tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically. - 4
Run the agent
Call
Runner.run(agent, prompt)to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Upzelo tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse
async def main():
async with MCPServerSse(
url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
) as server:
agent = Agent(
name="Upzelo Agent",
instructions="You have access to Upzelo tools.",
mcp_servers=[server],
)
result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
print(result.final_output)
asyncio.run(main()) Independent Platform Disclaimer: Vinkius is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, verified by, or otherwise authorized by Upzelo.
