Debating Agent Systems

AutoGen's strength is deliberation, not single-step execution. It uses the `interact` tool to simulate complex exchanges between multiple agents that debate a topic. The final decision emerges from this negotiation. Example: One agent might use `get_state` to check prerequisites, while another argues about the best next step using data gathered via `query_kb`.

Systematic Knowledge Validation

When agents disagree, they need facts. Use the `list_kb_tags` tool first; this lets the debating group scope their search parameters. Then, `query_kb` provides the specific documentation snippets that force the competing agents to justify their arguments with data. This mechanism ensures consensus is built on verifiable Voiceflow documentation.

Structured System Configuration

The system needs reliable inputs. The `get_project` tool provides the foundational metadata for an agent, which one of your AutoGen agents can act as the 'Architect' to review. This ensures all operational parameters are known. Furthermore, using `list_projects` allows the group to compare and contrast multiple available Voiceflow configurations before making a final recommendation.

Setup guide

Set up Voiceflow MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Voiceflow tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Voiceflow_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Voiceflow data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Voiceflow MCP in AutoGen

Your AI client passes all tools to the agents, allowing them to debate how best to proceed. The tools serve as objective functions that multiple agents must consult and argue over.
Yes. You can have two or more agents tasked with running `list_projects` and comparing the results from `get_project` across all available systems, driving a comparative analysis.
Agents can use `query_kb` in a debate. One agent asks for data, another evaluates it against the current conversation state (`get_state`), forcing consensus on accuracy.
Since we have `list_projects` and `get_project`, AutoGen can manage a comparison process. It's perfect for scenarios where the final decision depends on choosing between several available agent configurations.
The server touches `transcripts`. AutoGen can run an audit process over listed transcripts (`list_transcripts`) and have agents debate the key takeaways from historical user chats.
