How to Use the watsonx Discovery MCP in Cursor
Write code that uses live API responses in Cursor: Connect to watsonx Discovery's MCP Server.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect watsonx Discovery MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect watsonx Discovery to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Build real-time data queries with the MCP Server
When you need a search result, don't use mock data. Use `query_discovery_content` to run natural language or DQL queries against watsonx Discovery collections. The AI generates code that accepts and uses this live API response in your file. This means the context you write with is real, not just a stub.
Inspect project structure right in your editor
Before coding, you need to know what's available. Call `list_discovery_collections` to list all data collections. You can then use `list_collection_documents` on a specific collection ID to see exactly which files are indexed. It’s great for scoping out your targets before writing the connection logic.
Verify component health and enrichments
Use `get_component_settings` to check a project's configuration or health status—critical when integrating external services. You can also run `list_available_enrichments` to see every NLP model (like Entities) applied to the documents, which helps you write accurate processing code.
