Connect WHO Athena API MCP to VS Code Copilot
Create your Vinkius account to connect WHO Athena API to VS Code Copilot and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Verify service status for the MCP Server
You can use `check_api_status` to confirm if the WHO GHO Athena service is operational. This check runs automatically when a developer needs reliable data, ensuring everyone on the team starts with accurate context. The result—operational or down—is instantly available for inclusion in your feature branch logic.
Map out required metrics and dimensions
To scope an analysis across the team, commit `list_health_indicators` to your shared config. This lets every developer see exactly what health metrics are available for use. Similarly, running `list_health_dimensions` maps out all possible observation parameters. The whole team works from one source of truth regarding WHO data structure.
Generate complete data access functions
When the team needs to pull stats, they call `get_health_indicator_data`. This function fetches specific global health metrics and writes them into your code as live, runnable examples. No more stubs—just real-world WHO data in the repo. This standardized approach makes onboarding new engineers much faster.
