MCP Server: Structured Data Retrieval
Windsurf can run complex SPARQL queries against Wikidata. It executes the query and returns structured data sets, letting you build reports or reference specific facts directly in your project context. You don't need to write a separate script for this. Just tell Windsurf what information you need—like all statements related to 'Q42'—and it handles the `execute_sparql` call autonomously.
Vector Search Integration
Need to find an entity or property without knowing its ID? Windsurf performs hybrid vector/keyword searches. You can use `search_items_vector` to locate Wikidata Items, or `search_properties_vector` for properties, just by describing what you're looking for. This means your agent doesn't fail if the input is fuzzy. It finds similarity scores and suggests the right data points before you even start coding.
Item Management
When you know exactly what you want to change, Windsurf handles it. You can retrieve an item's current statements using `get_item_statements` and then use `create_statement` if you need to add structured data. Remember that setting any new statement requires OAuth 2.0 access. If you just need a quick reference, `get_item` pulls the core details for a specific Wikidata Item instantly.
