Automated Definition Retrieval

In a CI/CD script, you might need to check if a term is valid. Run `get_word_definition` directly from your shell script. It spits out the definition text, which you can immediately pipe into another validation tool.

Pipeline Summarization

Need an overview of a topic for documentation generation? Call `get_word_summary`. This runs headless, giving you clean output. It’s perfect for generating markdown files or updating READMEs without needing a GUI.

Chaining Wiktionary Tools in Scripts

You can build complex scripts that chain actions. First, call `get_word_summary` to get context. Then, use the result's key terms to call `get_word_definition`. This sequence runs entirely from your terminal.

Common questions about Wiktionary MCP in Claude Code

You connect the server using a simple command: `claude mcp add --transport http ...`. Once connected, you reference the tools directly in your script. No GUI needed; it's pure terminal execution.
It sends textual data. When you ask for a definition or summary, you receive a string of text that can be captured by standard shell variables. This makes it easy to process in subsequent scripts.
Yes. You can run `get_word_definition` as a pre-commit hook or part of your build pipeline. It validates the term's existence and provides context instantly.
Keep it sequential. Use `get_word_summary` first for general background, then drill down using specific calls to `get_word_definition`. It keeps your pipeline logic clean and traceable.
It touches textual data. The output of both `get_word_definition` and `get_word_summary` is pure string content. This makes it ideal for scripts that handle documentation or logging.
