Find any wine with the MCP Server

The team can use `wine_check` to check a wine's details, scores, grape varieties, or region. This is critical for accessing global pricing and producer data from over 100,000 merchants. Because it's configured in the shared `.vscode/mcp.json`, every developer on the team gets automatic access to this powerful MCP Server.

Check wine details using VS Code Copilot

`wine_check` serves as your primary lookup tool for any wine question across the organization. It pulls global pricing, critic scores, grape varieties, and region information. This consistency means every developer uses the same source of truth when writing code or documentation.

Analyze market prices with VS Code Copilot

Use `market_price` to get global market pricing for a wine. This lets the team compare costs and find the best deal on a specific bottle. Committing this configuration ensures that everyone, from junior dev to architect, has immediate access to crucial financial data.

Setup guide

Set up Wine-Searcher MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Wine-Searcher MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Wine-Searcher tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Wine-Searcher transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.
