Running Build Jobs via the MCP Server

You can trigger any pipeline run directly from the command line using `trigger_pipeline`. Need to check if it's active? Call `get_pipeline` for status details. If the job finishes early, you can still use `list_pipelines` to see its history. For immediate fixes, simply call `restart_pipeline`, and your script will pick up right where it left off.

Managing Repositories on Woodpecker CI

Need a list of all repos? Use `list_repos` to get the inventory. To inspect one, run `get_repo`. If you need to change who owns it, use `chown_repo`, or if the project is done, wipe it clean with `delete_repo`. Running an immediate lookup using `lookup_repo` is also a reliable way to confirm a slug.

Monitoring Workers and Secrets on the MCP Server

Keep track of your workers by listing all agents with `list_agents`. To see specific task loads, use `list_agent_tasks` for an agent. For security, you can list global secrets using `list_global_secrets`, which is admin-only. If a worker needs attention, you'll call `update_agent` or `delete_agent`.

Common questions about Woodpecker CI MCP in Claude Code

Run `get_healthz`. This single command confirms if the MCP Server is operational and ready for automated tasks. It's the first thing you run in a deployment script.
Yes, you can list all agents with `list_agents`. You also have tools to create new workers (`create_agent`) or retire them when they're no longer needed (`delete_agent`).
It manages both global secrets (accessible via `list_global_secrets`) and repository-level secrets. These are critical system credentials you need to handle carefully.

Use `get_org_permissions`. This tool retrieves specific user access rights for an organization, which is key when writing automated scripts that need elevated privileges.
