Debating Card Requirements

Need to figure out if a card meets complex criteria? Set up two agents: one that calls `get_card_info` and another that evaluates the results against rules. They debate until consensus is reached. This process models true decision-making, where different perspectives challenge the raw data retrieved from the MCP Server.

Simulating Set Validation

Run a scenario where one agent calls `list_card_sets` to identify all options. A second agent then acts as the validator, checking if a specific card's metadata aligns with those sets. This negotiation pattern is perfect for complex data validation that requires multiple viewpoints on the available Yu-Gi-Oh! data.

Structured Card Discovery Debate

One agent can run `list_archetypes` to gather all categories. A second agent then challenges that list, calling `get_card_info` repeatedly until it has enough cards to build a complete picture. The final decision—the comprehensive list of card details—is the outcome of their negotiation.

Setup guide

Set up Yu-Gi-Oh MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Yu-Gi-Oh tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Yu-Gi-Oh_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Yu-Gi-Oh data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Yu-Gi-Oh MCP in AutoGen

You use the MCP Server to feed raw database facts into a multi-agent conversation. The agents then debate those facts until they arrive at a consensus conclusion about card properties or set compatibility.
The system works best when the answer isn't obvious. If you need multiple competing views—like a risk agent and a performance agent—it excels.
Yes. You can set up agents to argue over which cards fit specific criteria, requiring multiple calls like `get_card_info` and comparing the outputs.
It's about deliberation. While simple APIs just return data, AutoGen forces a multi-step consensus process on that data.
The agents debate over card names, set lists, archetype groupings, and detailed card metrics. The final output is a reasoned conclusion based on this metadata.
