Manage entire customer records

List all contacts—both customers and vendors—using `list_books_contacts`. This gives Cascade the full roster of who you deal with. You can then use `list_organizations` to grab the correct organization ID before running any other billing tool.

Build and retrieve invoices

Need to send a bill? Cascade uses `create_new_invoice` to generate the record immediately. It also lets you check existing bills with `list_invoices`, making sure nothing falls through the cracks. You can drill down further using `get_invoice_details` to verify line items or payment status on a specific invoice.

Check product and quote data

Before invoicing, you'll probably need to check what products are available. Run `list_inventory_items` for the full catalog list. You can also grab potential deals by using `list_estimates`, giving Cascade a view of all current quotes.

Common questions about Zoho Books MCP in Windsurf

You use the `list_invoices` tool to pull down a list of invoices for your organization. You can then examine specific payment dates or statuses using `get_invoice_details`. This tells you exactly where that invoice stands.
Yep, you run the `list_books_contacts` tool. It outputs a list of every customer and vendor ID associated with your account. This is crucial for making sure any subsequent billing call targets the right person.
While there isn't one direct 'create estimate' tool, you can use `list_estimates` to see what quotes already exist. If your goal is billing preparation, checking the list of contacts first with `list_books_contacts` helps ground the effort.
You run `list_organizations`. This tool pulls down all available organizations and provides the necessary ID. You must use this output first to ensure your other calls—like creating invoices—hit the right company record.
