Key Capabilities

CLI Audience Auditing

Execute `list_subscribers` from a shell script to pull subscriber data into JSON format. This makes it easy to pipe the output directly into database migrations or billing scripts. The resulting stream of IDs and emails lets your SRE team verify user counts against external service records.

Metric Extraction for CI/CD

`get_post_stats` allows you to pull hard numbers on content performance, which is perfect for automated reporting. You can use the output as a conditional check in your pipeline (e.g., 'if stats > 10k, then deploy'). It's ideal for setting up cron jobs that monitor engagement trends without needing any GUI.

Bulk Content Retrieval

`list_posts` retrieves titles and IDs for recent Substack content. This is your starting point when building a scraper or an automated knowledge base index. You can then chain this by using `get_post` to grab the raw text of multiple posts, feeding them into another processing utility downstream.

Common questions about Substack MCP in Claude Code

Run `list_subscribers` in your terminal. The output is designed to be machine-readable, letting you capture every user ID and email address for automated processing.
Yes, running `get_publication_info` provides all the core metadata about the account. This confirms connection health and gives you parameters needed for your deployment scripts.
Use `get_post_stats`. You can schedule this command to run nightly, capturing metrics that prove whether a certain content type is driving conversions. The output goes straight to STDOUT.
First, pipe the list of IDs from `list_posts` into a loop that calls `get_post`. This pulls down the raw content for every article you care about.
The server touches subscriber data when running `list_subscribers`. Since this is terminal-only, ensure your entire CI/CD environment is secured and logged appropriately.
