Build data-driven components automatically

The `get_page_layout` tool lets Cline see the exact structure of an existing Agility CMS page. It can see which modules are used and how they're configured. This is the information it needs to start scaffolding new components. From there, you can tell Cline to fetch the content for that component using `get_single_item` or `list_content_items`. It pulls the data, writes the code to render it, and saves the file right in your project. You go from a prompt to a working component in seconds.

Generate realistic test fixtures

Stop using fake 'lorem ipsum' data for your tests. With this MCP server, you can tell Cline to build test fixtures using actual content from your CMS. It's the best way to make sure your components can handle real-world data. Cline uses `list_content_items` to grab a set of articles or `get_media_gallery` to pull image data. It then formats that data into a JSON fixture file that your test runner can import. Your tests become way more reliable.

Query your CMS from the editor

You don't have to leave your IDE to check on your content anymore. Just ask Cline a question like, "How many posts are in the 'Case Studies' list in Agility CMS?" It will use the `count_reference_items` tool and give you the answer. This makes quick data checks part of your coding flow. Cline can find items with `search_content_reference` or pull entire sitemaps with `get_site_tree` without interrupting your work. It's like having a command-line interface for your CMS, but with an agent that understands what you need.

Common questions about Agility CMS MCP in Cline

Prompt Cline with your goal, like "Build a component for the 'Author Bio' item." Cline will use the `get_single_item` tool to fetch the data from Agility CMS and then write the JSX and logic for the component.
No, it doesn't. You connect the Agility CMS MCP Server to Cline once using your Vinkius token. All requests are proxied and authenticated through Vinkius, so your keys stay private.
Yes. You can ask Cline to run a sync check. It will use the `sync_incremental_items` tool with your last sync token to see if any new content has been added in Agility CMS, returning a list of updated items.
Open the Cline sidebar in VS Code and go to the MCP Servers icon. You can install the Agility CMS server from the Marketplace tab with one click. Or, you can add it by URL in the 'Remote Servers' tab.
Cline is given read-only access to your CMS content. This includes content items, reference lists, page routes, and media gallery information. Your Vinkius token secures the connection, and the server itself is ephemeral, meaning it holds no state between requests.
