How to Use the Aiven MCP in Cursor
Generate working code with real database connections by calling Aiven tools inside your Cursor editor.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Aiven MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect Aiven to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Check live service states inside Cursor
The `get_service` tool pulls active connection strings and service states directly into your Cursor editor. The AI agent uses this metadata to replace placeholder environment variables with live connection details. Having real-time access to `list_services` means your editor never writes code against stale database specifications. You get immediate feedback on whether your target database is running.
Spin up Aiven databases in Cursor Agent mode
The `create_service` tool provisions new databases without forcing you to context-switch to a web console. Your Cursor agent runs this command inside your chat window to set up development databases on demand. By reading available database configurations via `list_project_service_types`, the editor ensures you only request supported configurations. This prevents deployment errors before they hit your cloud provider.
Audit organization teams directly from Cursor
The `list_account_teams` tool queries the active teams associated with your organizational accounts. This allows your Cursor agent to map out access permissions while you write configuration files. If you need to add contributors, `invite_organization_user` sends invites directly from the editor sidebar. You keep your team structure synchronized with your codebase.
