Multi-agent debate on AQICN data

Configure your agents to cross-examine air quality reports fetched via `get_city_feed`. One agent can request data while another evaluates the health impact based on the returned values. This setup forces your agents to reach a consensus before providing a final answer to the user. It effectively filters out noise by having them challenge each other's interpretation of the metrics.

Dynamic station monitoring

Assign an agent to manage station discovery using `search_stations`. It can find relevant sensors and pass those IDs to a researcher agent for detailed analysis. This separation of concerns allows your system to handle complex queries that require multiple steps. The agents negotiate which station offers the most accurate data for the current request.

Real-time location reporting

Use `get_ip_feed` to establish the initial context for your agents. The system fetches the local air quality and passes it into the conversation flow as a starting point. This provides a concrete foundation for your agents to begin their deliberation. They use this live data to ground their final recommendation to the user.

Setup guide

Set up AQICN MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes AQICN tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="AQICN_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent AQICN data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about AQICN MCP in AutoGen

The MCP server tools are passed directly to your agents during initialization. They can share the output of any tool call within the multi-agent conversation history.
Absolutely. You can set up a verification agent to check the data against secondary sources if the first agent reports questionable figures.
The framework manages the tool execution lifecycle. If a call fails, the agents can discuss the error and attempt to retry or switch to a different station.
The tools themselves are stateless, but the conversation history in AutoGen keeps track of what was discovered. This allows for long-running debates over time.
The server operates within a Vinkius sandbox that isolates all tool execution. Only the requested air quality data is returned to your agent group, keeping your environment closed.
