Multi-Agent Dispatch Negotiation in AutoGen

Let your agents hash out the best logistics strategy. One agent can draft delivery routes using `solve_vehicle_routing` via this MCP Server, while a supervisor agent critiques the plan based on traffic metrics pulled from `calculate_od_matrix`. This collaborative loop continues until both agents agree on the most efficient schedule. It replaces rigid single-agent scripts with dynamic, consensus-driven routing decisions.

Resolve Address Conflicts with ArcGIS MCP Server Tools

Turn address verification into an active discussion. If a customer address is ambiguous, an AutoGen validation agent can call `suggest_geocoding` to pull alternatives, while a customer-proxy agent selects the most likely candidate. Once they agree on the correct location, the validation agent calls `find_address_candidates` to lock in the precise coordinate set. This cooperative flow guarantees high data quality before any dispatch occurs.

Collaborative Territory Management

Divide and conquer delivery zones. A territory planning agent can use `calculate_service_area` to map out drive-time zones, while an operations agent analyzes whether the fleet can cover those areas. By feeding these service area boundaries back into the agent conversation, they can negotiate territory boundaries in real time, ensuring no driver is overloaded.

Setup guide

Set up ArcGIS MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes ArcGIS tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="ArcGIS_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent ArcGIS data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about ArcGIS MCP in AutoGen

Agents pass the JSON output of `solve_nav_route` back and forth in their conversational context. One agent generates the turn-by-turn directions, and the other parses it to verify compliance with local constraints.
Yes. You can pass the tool list specifically to your dispatcher or logistics agent while keeping your customer-facing agents sandboxed from raw spatial APIs.
The server handles concurrent calls natively. When multiple AutoGen agents negotiate routes simultaneously using `solve_vehicle_routing`, Vinkius scales the execution in isolated sandboxes to prevent bottlenecks.
Use the Streamable HTTP transport with StreamableHttpServerParams to connect your AutoGen agents to the Vinkius-hosted endpoint.
Nowhere. Vinkius operates a zero-trust network where all address strings and coordinates are processed in ephemeral V8 isolates, meaning your proprietary routing data vanishes the moment the tool execution ends.
