How to Use the Arcsecond.io MCP in Cline
Let Cline build data-driven UIs with live astronomical data from Arcsecond.io, right inside your VS Code editor.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Arcsecond.io MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect Arcsecond.io to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Generate Code from Star Data
The `search_objects` tool gives your agent access to a massive catalog of celestial bodies. Ask Cline to 'find the Horsehead Nebula' and it will use the tool to get the raw data. Here's where it gets interesting. Follow up with 'create a React component to display that data'. Cline won't just give you a code snippet; it will write the entire file, import it, and stage the changes for you to review.
Build Dashboards with this MCP Server
This MCP Server connects Cline directly to observatory operations data. You can use `list_night_logs` to get a stream of recent observation reports from any connected site. Give Cline a task like, 'Build a dashboard showing the latest night logs from the Keck Observatory.' It will fetch the data and then generate the actual front-end code for a table or list to display it. It’s true end-to-end task completion.
Automate Data-Fetching Logic
Cline can write the scripts and API clients you'd normally have to build by hand. The `list_telescopes` tool, for instance, provides a simple list of equipment at a site. Tell Cline to 'write a Python function that gets all telescopes from the Gemini Observatory and prints their names'. It will generate the code, complete with the correct MCP call structure, and place it in a new file for you.
