Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Balena MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect Balena to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
End-to-End Fleet Queries in VS Code
Balena controls distributed edge hardware, giving you direct access to device states and fleet structures. Cline uses the `list_devices` tool to pull live sensor hardware data straight into your workspace. You tell your coding agent to build a dashboard for your Raspberry Pi fleet. It fetches the live UUIDs, writes the React components, and imports the API data without needing manual instructions.
Automated Balena MCP Server Provisioning
Writing deployment scripts requires knowing exactly which hardware runs what software. Your AI client grabs the current application state using `list_fleets` and `list_releases`. When you need to inject new credentials, the agent writes the code and then executes `create_device_env_var` to push the config. It stages the commit and shows you the diff before moving on.
Hardware OS Management
Finding the right base image for new edge hardware usually breaks your focus. The agent executes `list_os_versions` to check what builds match your target device type. After confirming the version, it runs `get_os_download_url` to grab the balenaOS image. It then writes the necessary Dockerfile or setup script using that exact link.
