Manage your CI/CD pipeline in Windsurf

Cascade reads your codebase and decides when to fire `create_build` or `rebuild`. You set the goal, and the agent handles the sequence without waiting for your input. It checks pipeline health using `get_pipeline` to ensure your deployment environment is ready. Windsurf then executes the build flow while you stay focused on writing code.

Control build status with Windsurf

Stop runaway jobs by calling `cancel_build` the moment you spot a failure. The agent watches the logs and reacts before you even switch tabs. `get_build` provides the specific failure reason. Windsurf parses this output to suggest fixes, keeping your development loop tight.

Track infrastructure with this MCP Server

Query your entire fleet by using `list_agents` to see which machines are currently processing jobs. This MCP Server gives your agent full visibility into your build capacity. It maps out your organization with `list_organizations` to help Cascade navigate complex setups. You get real-time status updates without leaving the IDE.

Setup guide

Set up Buildkite MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the Buildkite MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my Buildkite payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the Buildkite tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about Buildkite MCP in Windsurf

Yes, Cascade can trigger `cancel_build` when it detects a failure. It monitors the build output and acts immediately to stop the process.
Open your settings and navigate to the Cascade MCP panel. Paste the server URL under the mcpServers key, then click refresh to load the tools.
It does. You can ask your agent to list all active build agents using the `list_agents` tool.
Vinkius handles your connection through a secure, ephemeral sandbox. Your token stays on your machine and only interacts with the tools you explicitly authorize.
The server only reads build logs, pipeline configurations, and agent statuses. It never touches your actual source code or sensitive secrets stored outside of the CI environment.
