Real-time fleet tracking via MCP Server

The `get_vehicle_position` tool pulls exact GPS coordinates for any truck in your fleet right now. You just ask your AI client where a specific driver is, and it maps the current location based on live telemetry. You don't need to log into a separate dashboard to find missing assets. Pulling the `get_vehicle_details` context alongside `list_fleet_drivers` gives your agent the exact vehicle specs and who checked it out last.

Trip history and geofence audits

Calling `list_vehicle_trips` extracts the complete route history for a specific VIN over your requested time period. Your agent cross-references these historical paths against boundaries pulled via `list_geofences`. Managers can ask the AI to calculate off-route deviations without exporting CSV files. It reads the raw coordinate data and tells you exactly when a driver left the authorized delivery zone.

Fuel consumption and speeding alerts

`get_fuel_status` returns current tank levels and burn rates for individual vehicles. Combining this with `list_fleet_alerts` lets your agent spot trucks burning fuel too fast due to aggressive driving. Speeding events trigger immediate flags in the system. You can prompt the AI to summarize all weekend alerts, and it will list exactly which drivers need a safety review on Monday morning.

Common questions about Cartrack MCP in Claude Desktop

Open your claude_desktop_config.json file from the Developer settings menu. Add the Vinkius endpoint URL and your authentication token under the mcpServers block, then restart the app.
Yes, the web interface supports custom connectors. Paste your remote MCP endpoint into the Integrations menu on claude.ai, and the agent can start plotting coordinates.
Your agent only fetches new data when you ask for it. You have to prompt it to run `get_vehicle_position` again if you want an updated location five minutes later.
The agent relies on the `list_fleet_drivers` tool to read the current roster. If you just added someone to the system, tell the AI to refresh the driver list.
GPS coordinates and fuel logs route entirely through a V8 Isolate Sandbox. The MCP connection is ephemeral, meaning your proprietary routing data disappears the second the session ends.
